Why it works

What cane molasses brings to your potting soil

Cane molasses does not replace fertilizer: it complements it. Its role is to keep the life of the substrate awake, which is what transforms nutrients into something the plant can absorb.

🦠

Food for the microbiome
The sugars in the molasses are the energy that the microorganisms in the substrate need to multiply and break down organic matter.

🪴

More life in the substrate
Potting soil quickly becomes depleted; molasses helps keep its microbial population active between transplantings.

🧪

Minerals of natural origin
It naturally contains minerals native to cane, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium, in small quantities.

♻️

Faster homemade compost
A little molasses diluted in the composter gives a boost to the fermentation of kitchen and pruning scraps.

Step by step

How to use cane molasses in pots

  1. Shake the bottle

Molasses is dense and can settle. Give it a few shakes before dosing.

    10 seconds
  2. Dissolve it in warm water

Mix the amount indicated on the label in your watering can. With warm water it integrates much faster than with cold water.

  3. Water the substrate, not the leaves

Apply the mixture directly to the soil, first thing in the morning or at dusk, as you would with normal watering.

    At dusk
  4. Close tightly and store

Cap tightly screwed and bottle in a cool place, away from direct sunlight.

Note

Never pour pure molasses over the pot: always dilute it. If you use too much, it can attract ants or promote mold on the surface of the soil.

Ideas for your terrace

Three ways to make the most of the bottle

1

Maintenance watering

Add it occasionally to the watering of herbs, balcony tomato plants or strawberries in planters.

2

Happy vermicompost

Earthworms appreciate that organic matter ferments well: a few diluted drops over the scraps help with this.

3

Reused substrate

When reusing soil from a previous season, a watering with molasses helps reactivate it before planting.
