Calendar
Magnesium throughout the season
Plants need magnesium especially during their most active periods. Here is a general guideline, always following the instructions on the label:
Budding
At the start of spring, so that new leaves emerge with an intense green colour.
Flowering
Before and during flowering, when the plant needs more energy.
Fruit development
In tomatoes, peppers and citrus trees, this is the period of highest magnesium consumption.
Recovery
After harvest in fruit trees and citrus trees, if the leaves show deficiency symptoms.
Irrigation
Magnesium sulfate in drip irrigation and tanks
Its high solubility makes it especially convenient when the vegetable garden or garden has an automatic irrigation system:
Drip irrigation
FertigationDissolved in water beforehand, it reaches the roots evenly with every watering.
Fertiliser tank
Be careful when mixingIn concentrated form, do not mix it with calcium-rich fertilisers in the same tank: they can form precipitates.
Foliar spray
Fast-actingTo correct visible symptoms, apply to the leaves at dawn or dusk.
Balance
Magnesium in balance with the rest of the fertilisation
Fertiliser supplement
Provides magnesium and sulphur; nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium come from your regular fertiliser.
Avoid excess
Too much magnesium competes with calcium and potassium. Always respect the recommended dose.
Water pH matters
With very hard water, nutrients become blocked. A natural pH reducer for irrigation water helps the plant make use of them.
Stone fruit trees
Apple and pear trees also benefit. We tell you about it in magnesium sulfate for stone fruit trees.
Pots and indoor plants
In pots, magnesium is washed away with irrigation: periodic application keeps the leaves green.
Quality and format
Epsom salt for plants, maximum purity
Uniform granules
Easy to spread on the soil and dissolve in water for irrigation.
Airtight bucket
Protects the granules from moisture and includes a measuring scoop.
